How Individual Therapy Works

People start therapy for many reasons at different times in their life.  For example, people come into therapy dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, loss and more. Others look to therapy because they are excited to better understand themselves and their life’s purpose. Therapy is designed to help you deal and cope with life in more healthier ways while being supported and held.

The first session starts with an initial intake in which your therapist will ask you more in depth about your history and what brings you to therapy. The first number of sessions are dedicated for the purpose of getting to know you better as well as starting to establish a relationship with your therapist. In additional, during this time your therapist will help you set some goals to work on and will also help you understand more deeply what it is that you will be working on. Once there is more clarity around what you are needing the therapy will take on it’s own shape according to your own pace and rhythm.
